In addition to your prescription, knowing your glasses measurements is one of the key elements to successful online glasses shopping. Once you know your frame measurements from your best-fitting glasses or sunglasses, you can confidently pick a pair knowing that you will have frames that fit.
Use temple (arm) measurements
Look at the inside arm of your frame and check for the numbers indicated above. If you see them clearly displayed, match them within a few millimeters to frames as you are shopping. With these numbers, you can also use our fit tool to refine your search by the sizes that will fit you best.
Use measurements from a current pair of glasses or sunglasses
If you don’t see any measurement numbers on the inside arm you can still find your fit by measuring your inside frame width and arm length.
How to measure your glasses
Step One: Measure the Inside Frame Width
To determine width, put the edge of your ruler over your frame and measure from the left hinge to the right hinge.
Step Two: Measure the Temple (arm) Length
Place your ruler at the hinge and measure straight across to the furthest end of the arm.
Tip: frame sizes do not usually have to be exact – numbers within a few millimeters in either width or length should still fit. Spring hinges allow for increased flexibility and durability in the life of your glasses.
How to search for frames using their measurements
1. Go to the glasses category on our website and find the size tool on the left side of the page.
2. Enter each of your measurements into the individual sections.
3. Review the suggested products that have been curated for you and pick a pair you love.
Now that you know how to find glasses that fit, you can refine your search for frames first on size and then continue searching for the styles, brands, shapes, and materials.
